I had a 2-hour private tuition session with Daniel, and it was time and money well spent. Daniel's depth of knowledge about everything to do with photography was impressive and inspiring. As a novice, I appreciated the time Daniel took to patiently walk me through the fundamentals of composing the ideal photo. I had a 2 hour private lesson with Daniel. I told him the specific things I wanted to improve and he was brilliant. He's patient and explains everything. He got me using Manual mode which allowed me greater flexibility / more control. There is so much to learn and 2 hours wasn't enough! I'd definitely be keen to go back and do a proper workshop. I attended the Travel Photography workshop which was, in one word, fantastic. Even before the workshop began, there was great communication from Wendy and a very warm welcome upon arrival on the day. Our two expert tutors for workshop, Daniel and Ben, as well as backup staff with food and drinks, were not only friendly, respectful and thoughtful towards their clients but also towards local residents and the general public in the areas we visited. I highly recommend the workshop as it was well organised, yet it had a relaxed feel. It was very informative through explanations/demonstrations and the group was driven to wonderful locations to develop skills. I appreciated the time provided at the locations and the encouragement to practise whilst Ben and Daniel offered advice and knowledge. The workshop was also an opportunity to enjoy the company of like-minded people who are keen to improve their photographic skills. Thank you to the team and also to the other workshop clients for a wonderful day.

I had such an enjoyable day at the Portrait Photography Workshop with Sydney Photographic Workshops. The whole experience was incredibly well run, and the instructors were both professional and genuinely friendly. They created a really encouraging environment that made it easy to ask questions, try new techniques, and build confidence throughout the day. The other participants were also great — a friendly group of people who were just as keen to learn and share ideas. It was a fantastic place to connect with other photography enthusiasts, and the collaborative atmosphere made the workshop even more rewarding. I walked away having learnt a lot, with a much clearer understanding of portrait techniques, lighting, and how to work with a subject. Best of all, I came home with some shots I’m really proud of. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to improve their portrait photography skills while having a fun, inspiring day.

I’ve now completed three courses with Sydney Photographic Workshop— Beginners, Speedlight Beginners, and Speedlight Beyond the Basics — and I can’t recommend highly enough. Daniel is an incredibly passionate and knowledgeable teacher, and his patience and clarity make learning so enjoyable! Each course was engaging, informative, and presented in a way that was easy to follow, even as the concepts became more advanced. His teaching style gives you confidence while keeping things fun and practical. If you’re looking to improve your photography skills, Daniel’s workshops are absolutely worth it!
