Yesterday I walked in the salon by coincidence, as I was walking back from the beach to the train station. It’s hard to get an hair appointment when you’re traveling, so I figured I might walk in and ask. The girl I met was very friendly and I could come in the next day, perfect! The spontaneous Irish Emma was the one to cut my hair and I am very satisfied with the result. But maybe more satisfied with the way the communicated and checked with me during the session if I liked it and made good suggestions on the different ways how she can cut it. Thank you so much! Lovely salon, would definitely recommend.

I’d been a repeat client at Studio Black Cottesloe, live nearby, and was disappointed by how a recent appointment mix-up was handled. I had an appointment time slightly wrong in my calendar and wasn’t contacted until 15 minutes after the booking. When I explained it was an honest and first-time mistake, there was no flexibility, no willingness to resolve in a mutually beneficial way with follow-up texts from myself not even responded to and a late fee charged without warning. Interaction was cold and transactional and I won't be returning. Last appointment where the owner did my hair, she spent most of the time bragging about how she maximises her income using the salons and tax concessions etc - this certainly fits with that. Lots of businesses have late fees but this is the first I've encountered that hasn't offered flexibility over a first time mistake.

- At my last visit on 15 January 2021 I made my next appointment for 19 February 2021. - I attended the salon on 29 January with my daughter for her hair appointment and when I asked after the owner, I was told the owner was sick. - On 17 February at 9.40am I had a missed call from Studio Black. - On 18 February at 9.04am I received a text message asking me to confirm my appointment. I responded “YES” at 9.11am on that same day. - Today, 19 February, I arrived at my appointment at 12noon. My appointment was for a colour and cut - so at least 2 hours, if not longer. - I was informed by a girl at the desk that the owner no longer works there as a hairdresser and they are fully booked. She confirmed they sent the text message yesterday, and confirmed they received my positive response. Why didn’t they call again or send a text to cancel my appointment? She said “sorry”. - It’s been a very long time since I’ve felt I’ve been treated with such little respect. Why confirm my appointment if they knew I would turn up, only to be sent away? “Sorry, if you come back at 3pm, we can do your colour but not your cut or blow dry.” Such total disregard for my time. I’ll never get in anywhere else on a Friday afternoon, but I’d rather my hair look poor at the party on the weekend than continue to support a business that treats local clients like this. I guess money is more important than me.
