Harrison was recommended to me by a dear musician friend of mine (IKSRE) as someone who would do a great job of capturing photo and video footage of our My Lovely Haunting album launch at the Toff. When I reached out to Harrison, I was looking for an aligned creative to help me create a full visual component for an upcoming launch: consisting of promotional videos, a visualiser, and cover artwork for my poetry single “Water Has Her Way With Us.” After sitting with the track, Harrison said he’d love to approach this project as a small, intentional artistic collaboration; intimate and unhurried. Together, we co-created a cinematic visualiser during golden hour last Summer, with Harrison capturing both the photography and videography. Right from the beginning, when he laid out a small, intentional, and spacious container for us to move forward together, I felt a deep sense of being met. This was a deeply personal process and creative work for me. There was so much more that met the eye, and I knew he could meet me there, in my vision and intention. It meant a lot to me that Harrison understood what lay creatively and personally beneath these words, and I felt deeply felt in that. As a gifted musician himself, Harrison was uniquely equipped to direct, photograph, and film a project that merged elements of poetry, music, and movement. That initial impression of warmth, integrity, and spaciousness followed through every single step of the way. His relational intelligence is what sets him apart; whether behind the lens or in the edit, he didn't just listen to the track, he listened to the artist. He weaves the movement of sunlight and water to match its rhythm, but most importantly honoured my voice as a creative in the process. What truly stands out about the nature of how Harrison works is his unwavering dedication to the relationship itself. When I approached him with sensitivities, personal boundaries, or shifts in perspective about how I wanted to be seen. All requests and suggestions were met with a great deal of care, consideration and professionalism. His ability to hold both an artist's personal vision and his own professional judgment with absolute care and sustainability is sublime. He accommodated changes that went far beyond what was initially proposed, entirely welcoming the specificity of my presence, and handled the process with mutual trust.
